When giving stats for a creature with multiple size like a shark which can be Medium, Large, or Huge...which is better?
One entry with a broad range such as
SHARKS
Encounter:
1d6 Behavior: Aggressive
ST:14 -45 Habitat:Water
DX:
9-10 AR: -2
IQ:
5-6 DM: 2d6 to 4d6(Bite)
EN:
0 SP: None
MV: 7-9 Swim TR: None
Or individual entries for each size? Note the creature description will state the creature comes in various sizes
This way would save space.

makes perfect sense for dragons...as it would for the different types of elementals or giants (if you're doing those)

that covers it all just like one shark entry. but, hey, i don't really care if you do it that way or not. i'm just making sure you have thought of this so you don't do any unnecessary work.
it may not seem like it, but i do think before i speak. i just don't think of everything or right things. dragons have several different attacks: bite, claws, tail, breath. the damage ranges of those probably vary by age/size, so i can see where that would get really hairy unless have entries by age as well as chromatic type.
Deletesharks only have one attack: bite. so, a single entry shouldn't present any major mental hurdles for readers or formatting hurdles for the author.

What is gained by doing it that way? I wouldn't even say sharks come in fast-food menu sizes like medium, large, or huge. I would just say sharks come in various sizes.
DeleteAndreas-I am going to do something similar, but include it in the creature description rather than in the actual top line attribute listings. I think this will make for a cleaner presentation overall while giving a bit more of the detail you might be looking for.
DeleteI like the way you've got it laid out in your sample. It gives enough specification so that the GM has something to work with, but enough variety so they can individualize sharks if they want. What would rock would be if you had reference sheets that mapped to your creature description format.
