BLADES unsheathed!

Well I am happy to say my own copies arrived and considering all the work time and effort that went into it, I am very happy to see the results.

I talked a bit about making a "BLADES boxed set"--and using some bits and pieces here is what mine looks like. If you make your own I'd love to see it!
I checked and my measurements were correct, 2 BLADES books fit in the box which means BLADES (and when completed) BLACK MAGIC books will BOTH fit in the same box with dice!!  The pencils and note cards will not, but still--it will make a crazy super fine portable boxed set!

With hard work and persistence, a dream (however goofy or small) can come true. Don't ever let anyone tell you different!

I am going to share a poignant bit from my reading of Letters from a Stoic by Seneca. I read this at lunch today and though written thousands of years ago, it still rings true.  When asked why he writes when he know the masses will not read or care, Seneca quotes Epicurus: "I write this not for the many, but for you; each of us is enough of an audience for the other."

I want to say thank you for letting me write for you, whomever you are and where ever you are-thank you.

  1. I really like the idea of a boxed set and that looks nifty.

I like that quote. I've never been a very philosophical person but I do seem to connect the most with Epicurus.

  4. Man, I'd forgotten you were going to release this on the 31st, and I barely managed to score the LULU Print sale; got in literally in the last ten minutes! I'm REALLY looking forward to reading our first new content in quite some time, and can hardly wait to see the Black Magic book hit the street. In the meantime, I know you're as busy as a one-armed paper hanger and I am looking forward to seeing what Frostcrawl looks like! Keep up the great work!

  5. I think someone asked somewhere but I didn't see the answer. Do you have an eta on Black Magic?

  6. Well, my copy finally came in the mail today -- I'm still reading it and am through the various creatures now. I just want to say that so far the rules strike me as nearly perfect! What a great job! And while I didn't enjoy the long wait for this, I have to say it was well worth it!

Keep up the excellent work, C. R.! If Black Magic is as good as Blades, you've done a superior job on this game.

    1. Thanks very much Jeff for the incredibly generous first look at BLADES. I agree with you, I took feel it took way too long to happen--ugh! :)

With BLACK MAGIC thee will be alchemy, blood magic, random creature generator, and a Referee section including many random charts for generating ideas. In the end I very much hope it will have been worth the wait for everyone who continues to support my little endeavor.

Thanks all for the patience and feel free to let your friends(whether analog or digital) know about BLADES too! :)

AS always I am grateful for your continued support!

    1. Sure they do. Well at least Conan does. You see, Kane is the evil, princess sacrificing sorcerer that Conan throws his sword through.

  8. This looks like a great Idea! Cannot wait for Black Magic! It sounds like it will have the S&S flavor.
