Avast ye scurvy dog!

In keeping with the pirate theme of this post, if you can find it, watch the 1990 version of TREASURE ISLAND! This version features a young Christian Bale, Pete Postlehwaite, Christopher Lee as Blind Pew, Oliver Reed and Charlton Heston as Long John Silver! Musical score by the Chieftains and enough adventure and heart to make Robert Louis Stevenson proud.

 I watch this at least 2x a year and it released on DVD (finally) about 20 years after it aired on TV.  I nabbed 2 copies because I want to have a bullpen ready when I wear out the first one. Fantastic fun and adventure for the adventurous soul  in us all!

    i never saw the 1990 Treasure Island. thanks for giving me something to watch!

    if you haven't seen it, be sure to check out Black Sails, a Starz original series about pirates. i love it. i believe the second season will start airing in January 2015.

      Did try Black Sails as I thought it was a great idea for a story--but it felt like overmuch attention was paid to trying to figure out how gory/sexy they could ramp up the visuals and the story was kind of secondary so it did not hold my attention unfortunately. Perhaps season 2 will add more story? One can hope!

      wow. i thought it had beau-coodles of inter-twining character stories. i was expecting a 'lack of action' complaint. i think i know what you are referencing though. i think the sex scenes fall dramatically after the first episode but it never really becomes a 'family show' :)
