What is Heroes & Other Worlds?

Heroes & Other Worlds is a game of adventure inspired by Metagaming's classic Melee/Wizard/TFT system combined with inspiration from the Moldvay edited basic game. The rules are easy to learn and use standard six sided dice. The system is simple, sensible and flexible in the spirit of classic role playing games from the early 80's. Become a Hero, Other Worlds await!

Samurai vs. Swashbuckler

One of the features in the first (and future) issues of Cauldron is a section (tentatively entitled Arms of the Ancients) where I will add in some equipment, maybe rules, background and adventure ideas centered around a  historical era.  So for the first issue, its your call Samurai or Swashbuckler? Voting happens until 1/31/13.

Next project (besides Cauldron #1) is the spell book. Also if you'd like to contribute to the Cauldron, drop me line, paint me a picture, or post me something to publish. Email me at fenway5@frontier.com.

  1. This is essentially the ninjas vs pirates argument. Discipline over luck any day. Samurai will be my vote.

  2. Arrr! Avast ye landlubber! It be the Freebooter I'd be aimin' for! It's certain to shiver me timber of every son of a bisquit eater who fancies his pieces o' eight! Yo-ho-ho!

  3. Will be thrilled with either, but I'm actually on a swashbuckling kick this week. Arms and ships would be great (my vote), though oni and yokai are tempting as well. In fact, you could easily do a whole supplement on that. Perhaps on ongoing series in Cauldron. Perhaps I should contribute :D

  4. Either would be a good addition, or make a great themed issue, but I'll go with samurai.

Have you got a deadline date for Cauldron #1 ?

  5. Swashbucklers... I'd far rather be lucky than disciplined.
